My path to success. I made it to the executive ranks by 40, and led an organization of 400. I had a fulfilling personal life and was enjoying the external markers of success.
I had every reason to feel confident. I had proven over and over again to myself and others that I was skilled, competent and accomplished. Yet for reasons I didn’t understand, my confidence could fail me and hold me back.
I went looking for a solution and found it. I challenged my beliefs about me and my sources for validation. I learned practices and tools to help me access and trust my own wisdom. How I led others changed, too.
I’m here to help you find new tools and solutions. New levels of personal and professional success are possible when you begin to use the power of your inner wisdom to guide your way forward. See how to experience this yourself and learn more about working with me.
I’ve been a leader in the field of talent development and career strategy in both business and academia for 25 years. As an executive overseeing talent management and operations strategy in a complex organizational structure, I was responsible for the contributions and development of a team of 400 and for meeting goals that contributed to the company’s overall success. As founder of Stevens Leadership, I work as an executive and career strategy coach with mid- to senior-level leaders across industries and professions.
As Vice President/Corporate Officer of Career & Talent Management for Education Management Corporation (EDMC), I fostered a culture of collaboration, engagement and innovation that positioned my organization as a leader in employee retention, professional development and attracting top talent.
As Director of Career Management at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and Assistant Director at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, I coached thousands of MBA students on successful career planning and job search strategies. My business development strategy significantly increased the pool of MBA recruiting companies, and Business Week’s ranking by recruiting companies improved from 16th to 11th in one cycle.
As an executive coach to leaders and teams, I’m skilled at quickly getting to the heart of an issue and helping my clients find clarity on what’s important to them. Defining priorities and setting goals is done holistically to bring balance and eliminate conflict. My customized approach with each client to help them reconnect with their core strengths, intuition, wisdom and power accelerates the pace at which clients reach their goals.
Coaching engagements address many topics, and often focus on delegation and staff development; prioritization; time management; gaining influence and value; positive transformation; productive communication and relationships; and aligning internal compass with professional and personal objectives. I also present on these topics at leadership retreats.
In addition to my private clients with Stevens Leadership, I coach leaders in Executive Development’s custom programs at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
I have my Master’s in Business Administration degree from UNC Kenan-Flagler and am a Professional Certified Coach through ICF. I’m certified in numerous individual, team and 360 assessment tools including Myers-Briggs, DiSC, Caliper, OAD, StrengthsFinder, Energy Leadership and the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks.
